Capitol Hill complex

Members of the Senate continue to discuss the resolution that would temporarily fund the federal government, as the shutdown nears a month.

Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins sent Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer a letter urging the reopening of the government, as some veterans programs have been suspended due to lack of appropriations. Secretary Collins wrote that the shutdown has made veterans question “the government’s commitment to those who have served.”

Senators have considered President Donald Trump’s nominees for military, housing, and economic posts in their committees this week. The confirmation process has gradually continued despite the government shutdown.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of the Senate as they deliberate the impact of the continued shutdown.
  • For President Trump and officials in his Cabinet as they seek to creatively fund essential agencies.
  • For federal workers who are working without pay during the lapse in funding appropriations.
